Riccardo Muti direttore della Chicago Symphony Orchestra fino al 2023

Il Maestro, dopo lungo stop per il Covid, estende il contratto

(ANSA) – ROMA, 24 SET – Dopo i tanti mesi di stop a causa della pandemia, ha ricominciato dirigendo le prove della Sinfonia n. 3 di Beethoven, “Eroica” e dedicandolo ai tutti i musicisti separati a causa del virus.

Riccardo Muti ha rinnovato il contratto con la Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association per la stagione 2022-23.
Il Maestro è diventato il decimo direttore musicale della Chicago Symphony Orchestra nel 2010. Il suo incarico avrebbe dovuto concludersi alla fine della stagione 2021-22 ma, alla luce dei tanti mesi di spettacoli annullati a causa del Covid, ha acconsentito a rimanere fino al 2023. Durante questo periodo guiderà l’Orchestra in 10 settimane di abbonamento e speciali concerti e attività comunitarie a Chicago, oltre a quattro settimane di concerti internazionali e attività itineranti nazionali. Tra gli eventi più importanti in programma la prima mondiale di un’opera commissionata dalla Chicago Symphony Orchestra a Jessie Montgomery e a giugno 2023 la Missa Solemnis di Beethoven con il Chicago Symphony Chorus e un elenco di illustri solisti internazionali, nonché a gennaio 2023 un tour a Taiwan, Cina e Giappone.

Muti ha detto di essere molto felice di contribuire con i suoi musicisti a fare della musica “un faro di speranza in tutto il mondo”.

RICCARDO MUTI EXTENDS CONTRACT AS MUSIC DIRECTOR OF THE CHICAGO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA THROUGH 2023

CHICAGO—The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association (CSOA) is very pleased to announce that the contract for Music Director Riccardo Muti has been extended through the 2022-23 season.

Muti became the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s 10th music director in 2010. His tenure was scheduled to conclude at the end of the 2021-22 season, but in light of the many months of canceled performances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Muti has agreed to the Association’s request to remain as music director through the 2022-23 season. During this period, Muti will maintain his current commitment to lead the Orchestra in 10 weeks of subscription and special concerts and community activities in Chicago, as well as four weeks of international and domestic touring activities. Highlights of Muti’s programs with the CSO in the 2022-23 season will include the world premiere of a CSO-commissioned work by Mead Composer-in-Residence Jessie Montgomery and June 2023 performances of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Chicago Symphony Chorus and a roster of distinguished international soloists, as well as a January 2023 Asia Tour to Taiwan, China and Japan.
