Running time: 1 hour 40 minutes

Language: Italian without subtitles

Riccardo Muti’s conducting expertise comes directly from Toscanini’s world: indeed his teacher was Antonino Votto, who had been Toscanini’s assistant for a long time.

It is also important to remember that Toscani paid homage to Giuseppe Verdi for the première of Otello at Teatro alla Scala in 1887, playing the cello in the orchestra.

Thus, there is a direct line between Riccardo Muti and these extraordinary artists. This is one of the reasons why Riccardo Muti has founded his Italian Opera Academy in 2015: in order to transmit his competence and what he has been learning ever since to young talented musicians coming from all over the world.

As a further goal, the public can participate and witness this journey from the rehearsals to the final performance of the opera, so that every body can understand the important and meticulous work behind the preparation of a serious opera performance.
