“My duty is to keep on believing that music is one of the main possibilities in the world to connect people of different culture, religion, ethnicity. This is what I experienced during my many trips abroad. My duty is to bring a possibility of “symphony” in my trips, meaning playing together, hearing together, feeling together.”
At Quirinale, Maestro Riccardo Muti spoke about the importance of music and culture as instruments of gathering in a difficult moment for international relations. Sergio Mattarella gave Muti the award of the President of the Italian Republic – 2015.
“Whatever the world theater will be, music is never one-sided. Anyone who limited the flow of culture, and therefore of music, anywhere in the world, would commit an antisocial and even dangerous action”, he added.
